Here at Bray Solutions, we have recently gained two new accreditations with Sedex and BCMPA.
We are excited to work with both companies and the values they hold. This is great for the progression of Bray Solutions and our Contract Packaging Department as the BCMPA accreditation specialises in the work we carry out in this specific department.
Since we have been with the accreditation we have seen an upturn in enquiries through their websites and are now working with amazing companies as a result.
What is Sedex?
Sedex is a membership organisation for businesses committed to continuous improvement of the ethical performance of their supply chains. Companies join Sedex in order to use the Sedex web-based system, participate in Sedex governance, participate in working groups, network and engage with other Sedex members, utilising Sedex value-added services.
Sedex enables member companies to efficiently manage the ethical and responsible practices of their global supply chains, generating transparency through the provision of a data exchange.
Members commit to improving their supply chain performance accordingly:
- Labour Standards
- Health & Safety
- Environment and Business Integrity
The tool used by Sedex is named SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit). It incorporates 3 elements:
- A best practice guidance on conducting ethical trade audits
- An audit report format
- A corrective action plan format
What is BCMPA?
The British Contract Packers Association (BCPA), as it was initially known, was formed in 2000 with the aim of promoting companies providing contract packing services. It quickly grew to around 30 members, some of whom also offered manufacturing services, with the result that the Association was renamed the British Contract Manufacturers and Packers Association.
The BCMPA started to attract members from a wide range of industry sectors which included food, drink, beauty, chemical, pharmaceutical and general gift packing.
Early initiatives included the launch of the first BCMPA website, participation in exhibitions and establishing strong connections with the relevant trade press. With the aim of maintaining high standards, the Association conducted audit visits to all prospective members prior to them being accepted for membership.
Now with over 150 members, the BCMPA has continued to go from strength to strength and is respected throughout the UK and internationally for providing a valued resource for brand owners, retailers, manufacturers and e-commerce companies looking for professional outsourcing partners.
